Buffy undergoes a test for Slayers who make it to their 18th birthday where she is slowly made weak and powerless by Giles. We learn that the ultimate culmination of this test is to have the weakened Slayer fight a vampire without her powers, relying on training and instinct. If she survives, she passes.
