Buffy dispatches Caleb once and for all and shares an evening with Angel talking about where they are in life. She admits that Spike now has a soul and is “in her heart,” but she professes no desire for a relationship with either of the vampires. Instead, she wants to discover the person she’s destined to become — if she makes it through the impending apocalypse.

As yet another imminent apocalypse is at hand in Sunnydale, Buffy prepares to square off against Glory to prevent the evil god from using Dawn’s blood to break down the walls between the dimensions. Buffy, Xander, Willow, Giles, Anya, Tara and Spike go to battle with the knowledge that they may not all survive.
While Riley heads to his Initiative debriefing, the gang gathers at Buffy’s house to relax watching videos after the events at the Initiative. By the time the FBI warning comes on, they’re all asleep and dreaming. Each one experiences a fantastical dream exploring their fears and fantasies.
The gang prepares for graduation which Willow views with gleeful reminiscent excitement, Xander fears, and Buffy sees as pointless. Meanwhile Mayor Wilkins is preparing for the Ascension and dispatches Faith to kill a local geology professor who we later learn may have discovered the body of a very old, very large demon. Buffy goes to Angel to investigate the dead professor some more but Faith shoots him with a poisoned arrow which slowly begins to kill him. Wesley tells Buffy the Watcher’s Council refuses to help Angel because he is a vampire. Buffy promptly quits the council dismissing Wesley’s authority once and for all. 
A sarcophagus which contains the turned-to-stone body of a demon called Acathla, who can suck the entire world into hell, is unearthed in Sunnydale and Angelus is determined to awaken him and end history altogether. J. and Brian slice their way through Becoming.
