The re-opening of Sunnydale High School is not without trouble for Buffy as some undead students and faculty rise from the dead and blame the Slayer for failing to protect them. Dawn and Buffy, together with some of Dawn’s new friends join together to defeat the evil forces.
While on a routine staking in the graveyard Buffy meets the most famous vampire of all time – freaking Dracula – who has come to Sunnydale intent on turning the Slayer over to the dark side. While the gang researches Dracula, Giles confides in Willow that he is seriously contemplating returning to England as he feels Buffy no longer needs his help.
Summer’s over and so is high school as Buffy, Willow, and Oz are starting their college career at UC Sunnydale. While Oz and Willow are enjoying their new stage in life, Buffy is not. On her first night of patrolling, Buffy gets bested by a female vampire named Sunday who leads a gang of vamps on campus who pick on the “weaker ones” from the freshman class.
Buffy is in Los Angles going by her middle name “Anne” and working as a waitress. She bumps into an old acquaintance by the name of Lily, but she tries to blow it off. However, as fate would have it, Buffy is drawn into a sinister plot by a group of demons masquerading as some sort of religious organization that drain teenagers of their youth.
Buffy returns from summer vacation with a major attitude alienating her friends and even drawing the scorn of Cordelia. Buffy is haunted by recurring nightmares involving the Master and her death while, the Anointed One and his followers plot their revenge.
